Pear Beauty is a beauty product recommendation and analysis service. We collect personal information in the course of operating that service through our mobile application, our website at pearbeautyapp.com, and our other communication channels.

If you sign up for an account (including through our mobile app):
We will collect your name, email address, phone number, password, and skin profile and preferences (such as your skin type and concerns). We may also collect your date of birth or age, login information (including passwords and usernames) and other user IDs (including for systems and third-party services integrated with our service offering). If we offer authentication via a third-party service or social account (for example, Google, Apple or Facebook) and you choose to use it, your data will be shared between that third-party service and us, so you should stay updated on that service’s privacy policy and only agree to share personal information you wish to share. When you use our mobile app:
We collect information about how you use the app, including the products you view, save, scan, like or rate, the searches you perform, and any feedback or comments you submit. When you use the product scan function, we collect the photos, videos and other media you capture and the product details we extract from them. This media is stored and used to identify products and to improve our product matching. Biometric information from these scans (such as face or skin close-ups) is not used for biometric identification. We may also collect device information including device type and model, version of your operating system or browser, your device ID and other device metrics, as allowed by your device permissions. We may also collect metadata including social media content (such as tags, handles and profile information) when you create your Pear Beauty account and authenticate with a third-party social media service.
We generate and hold information about you that is inferred or derived from your activity, including predicted skin needs, product affinities, and the personalised recommendations we generate for you. We treat that inferred information as personal information when it can be reasonably linked back to you.
When you use our website:
General site traffic data is collected for the purpose of site maintenance and improvement and to provide information about which pages are viewed and how often. This helps us understand which areas of the site are most useful to our users and alerts us to areas that may be difficult to navigate. The data we collect may include your IP address, your approximate geographic location, and data sent to us by your web browser, such as your operating system, browser type and version, device type and screen resolution. Pear Beauty participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means the Pear app and our website may contain links to third-party retailers and brands, and we may earn a commission when you click those links or make a purchase through them, at no additional cost to you. To operate these programs and to understand which recommendations are useful, we and our affiliate network partners use cookies, tracking pixels and similar technologies to record when you click an affiliate link and whether that click leads to a purchase.
This click tracking may involve sharing a de-identified click identifier and limited technical information (such as your device and browser type, and the time of your click) with the relevant affiliate network or retailer so that a purchase can be attributed to your click. We treat information collected through affiliate tracking in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Affiliate relationships do not influence the ingredient analyses, product matching or recommendations we generate for you.
